Vlad Shulea is a black & grey realism tattoo artist based in Bucharest, specialising in realistic portraits and large-scale pieces. He has been tattooing since 2011, has worked in Copenhagen, Birmingham and Amsterdam, and won 2 awards at the Wrexham Tattoo Show (UK, 2018). He is the founder of Ace Tattoo Parlour.

The story

  1. Berceni, BucharestI grew up in Berceni, in Bucharest.
  2. 2011 · first machinesIn my second-to-last year of school, at 16, I bought my first tattoo machines. That is also when I got my first tattoo.
  3. BucharestAfter school I worked in a studio in Berceni, my own neighbourhood, then in one in the city centre.
  4. EuropeI worked in Copenhagen, Birmingham and Amsterdam.
  5. 2018 · Wrexham, UKTwo awards at the Wrexham Tattoo Show: 2nd Best Portrait and 2nd Best Small Black & Grey, with an Amy Winehouse portrait.
  6. 2023 · Ace Tattoo ParlourI opened my studio in Sector 1, Bucharest, where I work today alongside my team.
  7. TodayI tattoo large-scale black & grey pieces, do guest spots at Antiek Tattoo Amsterdam and am preparing the “Drumul Tatuatorului” mentorship.
